Social Work

There is a part-time social worker working the Department. Services include vocational rehabilitation of patients, assistance for the economically less privileged patients as well as organising picnics and social classes for the patients.

Services Provided

To help a patient we require resources. Following are the organisations we are networking with to enhance patient welfare.

  • National Association for the Blind

  • Janodaya Public Trust

  • Vocational Rehabilitation Center

  • Department of Welfare of the Disabled.

Vocational Rehabilitation

Vocational rehabilitation centers are contacted to enable the patients to undergo training programmes according to each one’s ability.

Counseling 

Counseling is given to the patient and the family members to cope-up with the illness and long-term hospitalisation.

Referral to Half-way Homes

After discharge patients who are economically poor at the same time need continuous monitoring and health check-up are referred to half- way homes like FOSA.

Providing Legal Assistance

Motor vehicle accident victims admitted in our hospital are assessed and  referred to a lawyer and thus helping the family file  cases and obtain necessary guidance regarding the same.

Assessment of Socio- Economic Status

Patients are assessed in terms of their Socio-Economic Status and accordingly concessional healthcare is provided as the next step. The social worker, the treating team and concerned staff along with the family support help the patient to avail treatment. 

Organising picnics/ Social classes

As part of rehabilitation, patients are taken out for picnics in order to refresh their minds.  It is also an opportunity for them to mingle and interact with other patients. 

Social classes are conducted once in two weeks to facilitate expression of their needs and concerns.

Providing private attenders

Providing private attenders to the patients and enable patient and the attender to have a good relationship with each other to achieve rehabilitational goals.
